A rough night for the Hays High softball team, who drops two at home to Garden City Tuesday by scores of 13-2 and 13-4. The second game was called after 6 1/2 innings due to lightning. The Indians fall to 10-8 and 4-4 in the WAC.
Game 1: Garden City 13, Hays 2
The Buffaloes broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the third then blew the game open with six in the fourth. They would add another run in the fifth and three in the seventh.
The Indians commit four errors in the game resulting in five unearned runs.
Madison Prough (4-3) allowed nine runs, four earned, on 11 hits over 3 1/3 innings and takes the loss.
Game 2: Garden City 13, Hays 4
The Buffs scored five in the first then tacked on two in the fifth and three in the seventh to put the game away.
Katelyn Schumacher had three hits including a triple to lead the Indians offenseively. Shea Briggs and Jade Ranking added a couple of hits. Rankin drove in two.
Madison Prough (4-4) gave up all 13 runs, 10 earned, on 19 hits and takes the loss.
