Inmates from the Ellsworth Correctional Facility cleaning up trash along the ditch of southbound I-135 near Assaria found a mortar round on Thursday. Ellsworth Sheriff Glen Kochanowski told Salina Post, “the round was about 10 inches long and had fins at the bottom.

The bomb squad from Ft. Riley was called and they disposed of it.”

The mortar was discovered in the area near milepost 85 and I-135.
