Kansas Man Arrested After Shotgun Incident

Andrew-SmithA 20-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after pointing a shotgun at this father and a Saline County Sheriffs Deputy during a disturbance at a New Cambria home.

Deputies were sent to the home of Joseph and Holly Smith around 8:00pm on the report of a domestic disturbance.

A deputy was talking to Joseph Smith, when his son Andrew Smith came out of the home, pointing a 20-gage shotgun at the two.

The deputy drew his gun and told Andrew Smith to put the gun down, and after talking for a few minutes he did so, then ran behind a tree.

Another deputy arrived at the home and Andrew Smith then started running toward a field, where he was tased, and fell to the ground.

He began hitting a deputy while being taken into custody, and was tased for a second time.

Andrew Smith was arrested on charges of battery of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, domestic battery, and interference with a law enforcement officer.
