Crew Work Injury Accident on I-70

Kansas Highway PatrolJust after 1:00 p.m. Thursday emergency personnel and law enforcement officials responded to the report of a rollover accident on I-70 about 1.4 miles east of Ellis.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol at 1:24 Thursday afternoon a 2002 Chevrolet passenger vehicle driven by Michael Anthony Llanos, 45 of Sapulpa, Oklahoma was headed westbound when the vehicle drifted in the median, after passing a semi truck, Llanos overcorrected, crossed in front of the semi and struck a guardrail and rolled in front of and was hit by the truck.

The passenger vehicle came to rest on its roof while the truck, driven by 36-year old Larry R Collins, of Tinway Ohio, came to a stop in the roadway.

The Highway Patrol reported that Llanos was not injured but both his passengers, 18-year old Erich Anthony Llanos and an 11-year old passenger were transported to Hays Medical Center with injuries. Both the driver and the 11-year old passenger were wearing a seatbelt but Erich Anthony Llanos was not, according to the KHP report.

The driver of the truck, Larry R Collins, was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt.
