The sale and use of fireworks in the City of Hays is set to be a hot topic again this year. Last year the city of Hays prohibited fireworks due to hot and dry conditions.

At Thursday nights Hays City Commission Work Session the sale of fireworks was moved to the May 23rd regular commission meeting agenda.

Comissioners agreed they would not shut down the sale of fireworks without the support of the County Commission.

• Commissioners moved the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex Shade Structure to the agenda of the May 23 City Commission meeting.

• Commissioners heard a presentation from I.D. Creech on Air Service Carrier Recruitment for the Hays Regional Airport

• Commissioners heard a presentation on possible airport terminal improvements at the Hays Regional Airport. The item was moved to the agenda of June commission meeting.

• Commissioners moved a request for rezoning the proposed Leucke Addition to the agenda of the May 23 City Commission meeting.

• Commissioners heard a presentation for Funding Additional Street Maintenance Project for 13th Street and will take bids.

• Commissioners heard a presentation from Kim Rupp on Sidewalk Repair Assessment Ordinance. It will be moved to the agenda of the May 23 City Commission meeting.

• Commissioners heard a presentation from Paul Briseno on an RHID Policy. It will be moved forward to a later Commission Meeting.
