Local students win for FHSU DECA team in state, international competitions

 Fort Hays State University’s Marketing and Management Association competed in the recent Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference and DECA International Career Development Conference and received many awards.

At the international conference, the chapter was recognized for Community Service Project and Presidential Leadership Passport. Scott Jones, instructor of management and marketing at FHSU, was recognized as Advisor of the Year.

AMERICUS: Chris Simmons, junior, placed first in Cyber Security, Help Desk, Network Design and Networking Concepts and second in Computer Concepts at the state conference.
DERBY: Jessica Tormey, senior, was elected international vice president at the international conference.
HASTINGS, Neb.: Brittany Ballou, sophomore, placed first in Client Services and second in Retail Management at the state conference. At the international conference, Ballou was a finalist in Advertising Campaign.
HAYS: Jordan Niernberger, junior, was recognized at the international conference with the Gold Diamond Leadership Passport.
LAUDERHILL, Fla.: Charles Dick, freshman, placed second in Project Management and third in Business Presentation at the state conference. At the international conference, Dick was one of the five finalists for Entrepreneurship – Growing a Business.
MERIDEN: BriA’nna Ploude, junior, placed second in Management Concepts and Contemporary Sports Issues at the state conference. She was recognized at the international conference with the Gold Diamond Leadership Passport.
PRAIRIE VILLAGE: Felix Albl, freshman, placed third in Business Presentation at the state conference. At the international conference, Albl was a finalist in Advertising Campaign.
ST. LIBORY, Neb.: Kelsie Erlenbusch, sophomore, was recognized at the international conference with the Gold Diamond Leadership Passport.
