According to Hay Police at 2:28 Friday morning,  the Hays Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 300 block of West 6th Street. Upon arrival, a 2000 Ford F150 pickup was discovered to be engulfed in fire.

A subsequent investigation determined the cause of the fire to be arson. As a result of that investigation, 21 year old Andrew Burgwald of Hays was arrested for the charges of Arson, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The investigation was conducted by the Hays Police Department, the Hays Fire Department, and the Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office.
