8:45 a.m. update  It took less than 90 minutes this morning for search crews to recovered the body of the 14 year old  drowning victim who was swimming in Wellington Lake on Memorial day.

 

(AP) — A 14-year-old boy from the Haysville area is believed to have drowned in Wellington Lake.

A search for the boy is scheduled to resume this morning.

Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath says the teen was with friends at the lake Monday afternoon when he went under the water and did not come back up.

Winds that were gusting up to 37 mph might have contributed to the boy’s disappearance.

Crews searched for several hours but had to call off the search Monday evening.
