AP) — A southeast Kansas woman has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in what authorities called the abuse death of her 18-month-old daughter.
Alyssa Haag, of El Dorado, was initially charged with first-degree murder in the March 2012 death of her daughter, Jayla Haag.
The mother pleaded guilty Friday in Butler County District Court to involuntary manslaughter. Her plea agreement calls for a sentence of 31 months in prison. Haag will be sentenced July 19.
Haag and her boyfriend were both charged in Jayla’s death. A coroner said the little girl had extensive bruising, multiple burn scars and six missing teeth.
The charge against the boyfriend was dismissed last year, but Butler County Attorney Darrin Devinney said Friday that additional prosecutions are possible.
