ehs meetingFewer than 20 people attended Thursday night’s final information session about next Tuesday’s $10 million school bond election for USD 388, Ellis.

No opposition was apparent among those on hand for the hot dog feed at Ellis High School.  School board president Mark Polifka says he’s “confident” the bond issue will pass.

  • Renovation of WGS (built 1951/1961) including boiler, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and roof; $650,000
  • Secondary Gym at EHS to replace deteriorating facility at the old high school (built 1952); $2,745.000
  • Football Field/Track Complex south of EHS; existing track can’t be resurfaced; $2.1 million
  • Wrestling Room & Weight Room at EHS replacing deteriorated current facility at old high school; $1.1 million
  • HVAC Loan Payoff would save $360,000; $1.5 million

Polifka emphasizes that students would also use the new facilities at the high school as classrooms  for band, science, physical education, general physical development and more.

Superintendent Bob Young says there are no plans to look at an alternate bond election.

“We feel these are the most significant needs of the district and they’re too closely tied together to make separate projects practical.”

Advance voting continues today and until noon Monday, June 3.
