Guitar Recordings of 19th Century Musician on Kansas Memory

The Kansas Historical Society announced that Lawrence jazz guitarist Brian Baggett recently donated his recordings of original manuscripts of 19th century guitar Worrall's Guitar Musicmusician and composer Henry Worrall. Worrall’s manuscripts and Baggett’s video and audio recordings of “Sebastopol” and “Carmencita” are in the Historical Society’s collections and can be accessed at kansasmemory.org/blog/post/105123157 or click on the photo for to see more.

Kansas Memory is the Historical Society’s online archives of documents, books, photographs, and videos.

Worrall was a musician and composer of popular guitar instrumentals. His original compositions influenced the development of country and blues guitar styles in the rural south of early 20th century America.

Baggett is a member of the Brian Baggett Trio and the rock band DOJO. He regularly performs in Kansas City, manages Supersonic Music in Lawrence, and is a music professor at Ottawa University teaching jazz guitar.

The Kansas Historical Society is a state agency that also operates the Kansas Museum of History, State Archives, Kansas State Capitol Tour Center, and 16 state historic sites across Kansas.
