“I think it will a short meeting,” Kathy Wagoner, Hays High School teacher and Hays NEA bargaining co-chairwoman told Hays Post of today’s meeting with USD 489’s bargaining team.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Board Room at Rockwell Administration Center, 323 W. 12th. “We are going to pick up where we left off last time,” said Wagoner. “We’ll discuss Insurance language, and the most important issue, the Hays High Schedule.

During the recently completed school year, Hays High teachers had six classes instead of five in a block schedule. Despite budget issues, they want to go back to what they’ve done in the past.

“I don’t have the full list of items we might discuss,” said Wagoner. “We will try to do a win/win. If something comes up we are willing to talk about it. However, we are not ready to talk salary, yet.”

Today’s meeting is scheduled to last until 6 p.m.
