The Hays City Band kicked off its summer season Tuesday evening with a concert in the Fort Hays State University quad.
Despite the high temperature (106 degrees) and the high winds (40 mph) earlier in the day, by 7:30.m. the weather was a little calmer, and director Jeff Jordan, FHSU Assistant Professor of Music, lead the volunteer group through its scheduled repertoire.
The band’s next performance is Tuesday, June 18, in front of Washington Grade School in Ellis.
A PEO scholarship fundraiser ice cream social will precede the concert. Ice cream at 7p.m.; music at 7:30p.m.
