A car vs deer accident late Sunday night killed a young Kansas woman. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, “Kayla M Lowrey, age 22, of Silver Lake was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 Eastbound on I-70 at mile post 338.7, three miles west of Maple Hill in the left lane.
A deer ran in front of the vehicle from the south. Lowrey hit the brakes to avoid the deer and the vehicle began skidding sideways and entered the center median. The car impacted a washout, rolled several times across the eastbound lanes and came to rest facing southwest partially in the right lane of eastbound I-70. Lowrey died at the scene. A passenger, 22-year-old Grace E. Holmes of Topeka was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital.
