Kansas Nurses Celebrate Milestone

kansasboardofnursingThe Kansas State Board of Nursing plans to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding with a meeting and reception next month.

The events are scheduled July 1 at the Landon State Office Building, east of the Statehouse in Topeka.

The board currently licenses about 62,000 nurses. The Legislature created it in 1913 to regulate nursing, and the board had its first meeting that year.

The board’s 11 members are appointed by the governor to four-year terms, with three non-nurse members.
