UPDATE: 9:11 a.m. – The Russell Sheriff’s department has identified the drowning victim as Richard G. Roach of Ellsworth Kansas. According to the Sheriff’s Department the cause of death was determined to be drowning and alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the incident.

 

Sunday 8:25 p.m. The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a body was found in Wilson Lake on Sunday.

Authorities say a fisherman reportedly saw the body floating in the water near Wilson Dam.
Personnel from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office; Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism; and the US Army Corps of Engineers responded and recovered the body, which was transported to Hays for an autopsy.

No details on how the victim died were readily available.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of the family.

This is the second such incident over the past two weeks.
