Longtime Hays public figure Henry Schwaller II , 94, died Saturday, July 13, at Hays Medical Center.

Schwaller is the grandfather of Hays City Commissioner and Vice-Mayor, Henry Schwaller IV.

Schwaller is known for predicting and helping to develop expansion of Hays east of Vine Street in the 1960s.

He owned the family business, Schwaller Lumber, and was a longtime member of the Hays City Commission.

Cline’s Mortuary in Hays is in charge of funeral arrangements.
