Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is in Hays. He was the featured noon speaker on Tuesday for  Eagle Communications Professional Development Series, as part of the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce, Hays Area Young Professional program. They met at the Robbins Center on

the FHSU campus. Schmidt told those in attendance about setting goals but not missing opportunities in pursuit of those goals. He also shared about his life growing up in Southeast Kansas. Schmidt is a graduate of Independence High School and studied at Independence Community College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, his master’s degree in international politics from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
