Storm Update. Roads are wet, drive with caution.

rain cloudsParts of Ellis County received heavy rain Saturday night and early Sunday. Reports vary from 2 -3 inches of rain in southern sections of rural Ellis County. According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s office, water had been running over some rural roads. Drivers are to use extreme caution due to the wet, unforgiving conditions.

The Eagle Media Center on Hall Street in Hays had .20 in the rain gauge. Another .35 was reported five miles west of Hays.

In Rush County, the Sheriff’s office told Hays Post that despite heavy rain, no roads are closed. However, the east side of a bridge on County Road 270 between Avenue C and D is out. Liebenthal received 4” of rain and 2-2.5 inches of rain was reported in LaCrosse.

Three inches of rain fell in Great Bend  Saturday night and early Sunday. Highway 56 had been covered with high water in Barton County Sunday morning. Stalled cars have been reported all along Highway 56.
According to Barton County Emergency Management Antelope Creek south of Great Bend is out of its banks.

Reno County Emergency Management officials used their facebook page to tell area residents to stay home, “Due to heavy rain, many streets and roads are flooded. Please stay home unless absolutely necessary. Some streets are blocked due to stalled out vehicle,” the page reported.
