High winds do more damage in Kansas

Hill City Wednesday morning as a strong band of showers rolled across the state.

Counties in southwest Kansas reported large hail and high winds did damage on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Reno County reported a number of downed trees including one tree that fell onto a home in Hutchinson and power lines were down west of Hutchinson. Westar Energy worked through the night restoring power. Most outages now are in eastern Kansas. Newman Regional Health Center in Emporia is operating on generator power after lightning took out power about 1 a.m. Wednesday. Flash flood watches and warnings continue in many parts of the state.

Only a trace of rain reported in Hays overnight. Catherine reported .22, Sweetwater Ranch .75, Two 1/2 miles west of Schoenchen reported .20, and 4 miles west of Hays .10 of an inch of moisture.
