3:30 p.m. I-70 Westbound at mile post 281 has reopened following the cleanup and investigation of the overnight accident that injured a 46 year old driver from Topeka.
12:40 p.m. The cleanup of I-70 west continues and it remains closed at exit 281.
5:55 a.m. I-70 west remains closed at mile post 281.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Forty six year old Alonzo N. Lax of Topeka was driving a 1997 Monte Carlo east bound on I-70 in the west bound lanes of a construction zone near exit 282, seven miles east of Abilene when he hit a west bound semi truck. Lax was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. The semi truck driver Bruce J. Uhlenkamp, age 49 of Central City, Iowa, was also injured. Both men were wearing seat belts.
