According to the Hays Police Department in a Tuesday news release, the eight week old baby injured at a local daycare last week has died.

According to Hays Police, “just after 12 noon on August 7, Hays Police Officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a report of an infant not breathing at a daycare facility located in Hays.

CPR was started and the child was transported by ambulance to Hays Medical Center. The child was later transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

The infant died on August 10th.

The Hays Police Department in cooperation with the Ellis County Coroners Office are investigating the death of the infant.”

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has temporarily suspended the license for the daycare facility, at 2405 Virginia Drive, pending the results of the investigation
