The appointment of an interim assistant principal for Hays Middle School will considered by the USD 489 Board of Education during their meeting next Monday night.

Shannon Demel, was a fourth-grade teacher at Washington Elementary School last year.

The appointment is listed among the personnel transactions school board members will be asked to approve.

If approved, Demel would fill in at HMS for assistant principal Shanna Dinkel, who is moving to the district central office for a year to assist with administration and curriculum.

Demel’s appointment would be effective starting September 1 for one year.
