khaz tompall glaser 20130814NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tompall Glaser has died. The country music singer, publisher and studio owner was 79 and his nephew says he died in Nashville after a long illness. Glaser is best known for his association with the outlaw movement against record labels. Glaser performed with his brothers as the Glaser Brothers in the 1950s and moved to Nashville after meeting Marty Robbins, who had the brothers sing backup for him. Glaser and his brothers began to chafe under the label system in place in the 1960’s and 70’s. And along with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson, they rebelled against Music Row.
