The Hays Police Department will again partner with the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office in an increased effort to combat impaired driving. Officers will be participating in the “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.” campaign from August 15th through Labor Day, September 2nd, 2013.
During this period officers will be specifically assigned to detect impaired drivers through the enforcement of traffic regulations including violations such as speeding, traffic signal violations and seatbelt use. Officers throughout Kansas will participate in this program, which is part of a grant funded operation underwritten by the Kansas Department of Transportation. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for the traveling public by reducing the number of motor vehicle fatalities, injuries and crashes.
The Hays Police Department would like to remind everyone that if you are going to consume alcohol as you celebrate the Labor Day weekend, to please have someone be your designated driver. Safe Ride will also be available Wednesday – Saturday from 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM to help people get home safely. You may contact the Safe Ride by calling (785) 621-2580.
The Hays Police Department reminds motorists to buckle up, designate a driver and do your part to help keep everyone safe on Hays roadways.
