The Fort Hays State football team wrapped up their first week of practice with a scrimmage Sunday morning at Lewis Field. The first team offense scored a touchdown on their second possession. After converting on third and seven and fourth and one, quarterback Treveon Albert hit running back Andre Smith for 26 yards to the two. Albert later scored on a one-yard run. Albert also hit running back Ed Smith for 35 yard touchdown pass.
Other highlights included a twisting one-handed catch by tight end Marshal Musil… Backup quarterback Edin Kovac hit tight end Garrett Dreiling for a 25-yard touchdown pass… Cornerback Andreas Ashwood returned a kick for a score and also had an interception in the endzone.

The lone negative came early when starting right tackle Matt Erbert from Ellis went down with an apparent knee injury. The severity and his status for the rest of the season is unkown.
