KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lindenwood got four first place votes after winning the first MIAA title in men’s soccer since 1998 last season. The Lions went 8-0-2 and to capture the regular season title and defeated Northeastern State 1-0 to win the conference tournament in Olathe, Kan.
Northeastern State, who finished second to Lindenwood in both the regular season and conference tournament, earned two first places votes and came in just three points behind LWU in the poll. Fort Hays State grabbed the other first place vote and come in third just three points behind the RiverHawks.
Harding, an associate member of the MIAA, comes in as the fourth place pick by the coaches. Southern Nazarene, entering their second season of men’s soccer in the MIAA has been picked fifth. The Crimson Storm come in just three points ahead of the Peacocks of Upper Iowa who are picked to finish sixth. Southwest Baptist is just two points behind UIU and are picked to finish seventh by the coaches this season.
The 2013 season gets underway on September 5, 2013 and will culminate with the MIAA men’s soccer tournament to be held at the College Boulevard Activities Center on Nov. 7 & 9.
