The Fort Hays State football team held their second scrimmage of their preseason Thursday afternoon and the offense struggled, scoring on only two possessions.

Quarterback Treveon Albert broke a couple of long runs but struggled to connect down field.

Head coach Chris Brown mixed and matches personal, giving some younger players a look with the No. 1 offense and didn’t have some of their projected starters on the field after their first series against the No. 1 defense.

The Tigers continue to look for a replacement for starting right guard Matt Erbert who was lost for the season with an knee injury suffered in their first scrimmage this past Sunday. True freshman Trevor Shankle has been taking the snaps since Erbert went down.

Defensive end Basil Bandy continues to have a good camp, tipping a pass that was intercepted by Jalen Hill. The defensive line batted down three passes on the day.

The Tigers get Friday off before returning to the practice field Saturday morning. They are two weeks away from their season opener against Emporia State September 5th.
