Tuesday Afternoon Rural Fire UPDATE

4:20 p.m. Ellis County Rural Fire Director Dick Klaus told Hay Post exhaust from a pickup is being blamed for starting the Tuesday afternoon fire southwest of Hays. The blaze burned 5 large bales and was contained by the rapid response of fire fighters.  Nobody was injured.

3:25 p.m.   The fire is out and most of the fire fighters are returning to Hays.

2:16 p.m.  The fire southwest of Hays is under control. A number of hay bales were burned. Some of them are being rolled out and allowed to burn out. Smoke from the blaze can be seen from town.

 

1:45 p.m. Ellis County Rural Fire Company 5 has been dispatch to report of a fire near a structure in the 1200 Block of Mount Pleasant Road, southwest of Hays.
