3 more arrested in Kansas ID theft investigation

(AP) — The investigation of an identity theft ring has netted three more arrests in the Wichita area.arrest

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Lt. Don Mattingly said Wednesday the case has grown to the point where it could also involve crimes in surrounding counties.

The investigation began earlier this month when stolen documents including mail, checks, credit cards and Social Security cards were found in the home of a 23-year-old Wichita woman.

Some of the documents dated back to 2008 and rightfully belonged to more than 150 people. The items had been taken stolen from vehicles and mailboxes in Wichita.

Mattingly says two of the three new suspects are expected to face charges of burglary, auto theft and possession of narcotics.
