12:15 p.m. update A 33-year-old Abilene man was arrested Wednesday evening without incident on a charge of first degree murder in the death of a Salina woman earlier this year.
Lt. Scott Siemsen of the Salina Police Department said that Dane Deweese was taken into custody in the 900 block on N. Walnut in Abilene just after 6p.m. Deweese was apprehended by the Salina Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Abilene Police Department, and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deweese is the second person to be arrested in the murder of 27-year-old Kristen Tyler of Salina. Tyler, whose body was found in a field west of Salina on May 9th, was last seen alive on April 25th. Her family reported her missing on April 27th. 25-year-old Joel Heil of Salina was arrested in Abilene on May 8th on unrelated charges, then charged with murder in the death of Tyler on May 9th.
Lt. Siemsen said that Deweese had been a person of interest in the case since the beginning, and a warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday. Siemsen added the investigation continues and further arrests are possible.
6: 13 a.m. A 33-year-old Abilene man booked into the Saline County Jail on charges of first degree murder.
Dane Deweese was booked into jail Wednesday evening at 8:30p.m. Lt. Scott Siemsen said more information will be released Thursday morning.
Deweese was arrested on a warrant in the murder of Kristen Tyler who was found dead along I-135 at Stimmel Road in early May.
She had been missing since late April.
5 a.m. Law enforcement authorities in Salina booked a man into jail overnight on murder charges. Name: Dane Cory Deweese is charged with murder in the 1st degree; Intentional and premeditated.
