3p.m. Saturday The Kansas Highway Patrol has confirmed that 24 year old Richard Musil was also wanted on a felony warrant in Barton County when he led offers on a high speed chase Friday evening.
Musil was east bound on I-70 and was being stopped for a traffic violation when he took the mile post 70 exit. KHP spokesman Tod Hileman told Hays Post, “Ten Kansas State troopers were involved in Friday night’s chase along with a number of officers from counties and communities along the chase route and two troopers in the search aircraft.”
Musil is from Great Bend but was driving a rental vehicle with California plates.
8: 30 a.m. Saturday The suspect arrested following Friday evening’s high speed chase is being held this weekend in the Thomas County jail in Colby. Twenty-four year old Richard Musil is charged with fleeing and alluding an officer, possession of certain hallucinogenic drugs and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
8:10 p.m. Friday A western Kansas high-speed chase continued for over an hour Friday evening on county roads from Logan to Graham County. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) started chasing a suspect driving a California rental car at approximately 6:20 p.m. The suspect was wearing a red shirt, black sunglasses and a black hat.
In addition to the KHP, law enforcement air craft and deputies from Logan, Gove, Trego and Graham County were involved in the chase at speeds over 100 mph.
The suspect had driven primarily east on highway 40 but took north and south roads at various times.
He was cornered in the Graham County community of St. Peter but was able to outrun officers and drive recklessly around stop sticks, a tire deflation device. At one point the suspect, in an attempt to change directions, reportedly tried to hit another law enforcement vehicle.
He was eventually captured on a county road east of Hill City at approximately 7:45 p.m.
