Andrew Rickel, Manhattan, is the newest President of the Kansas Young Democrats. Rickel was elected during the KDP’s annual Demofest to replace President Ben Cohen who stepped down this August following his election as 2nd Vice-President for the Young Democrats of America.
“The Kansas Democratic Party is excited to welcome Andrew Rickel to this important position and look forward to tapping into his intelligence and enthusiasm,” said Joan Wagnon, KDP Chair. “Andrew’s campaign experience and excellent organizing skills will serve Kansas Democrats well and help make sure we hold Governor Brownback accountable for cutting education and driving up tuition for Kansas college students and their families.”
Rickel attended Kansas State University, where he studied communication studies, with an emphasis in political rhetoric and community organizing.
“Kansas Young Democrats combine an understanding and appreciation for Kansas’ past with a vision for an improving future,” said Andrew Rickel, KYD President. “We believe strengthening our schools and helping all Kansans obtain a quality education will create the opportunities and economic growth that will sustain our state over the coming decades. Making this belief a reality is my primary goal as KYD President.”
