A woman who allegedly fled authorities while leaving a 5-year old child in a vehicle in May has been arrested on multiple charges and booked into the Barton
County jail.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Department, Tonya Cope of Great Bend was arrested on a Barton District Court warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and aggravated endangering of a child. She was also booked for possession with intent to distribute, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
On May 20th, Cope along with Brandon Dannebohm allegedly fled a vehicle that contained a loaded handgun and suspected drugs. Dannebohm was later arrested on June 14th when he was found sleeping in a vehicle in Great Bend. Cope meanwhile remained at large.
According to Sheriff Brian Bellendir, a Great Bend police officer spotted Cope at the Cottonwood Grove RV Park on North Main Street in Great Bend and made the arrest.
