This weekend is the 4th Annual Bricks, Broncs & BBQ in Russell. The event, hosted by Russell Main St. Incorporated, is the organization’s yearly fundraiser to help preserve downtown Russell to help make the downtown area a vibrant place to visit.
Russell Main Street Executive Director Linda O’Neal told Hays Post that there is a little something for everyone.
“Anybody can come down and visit our downtown Russell, we have lots to offer. The Deines Cultural Center is having a kid’s wall activity where the kids can come down and either chalk or dry erase on a great big board that’s going to be outside. We’re doing a golf cart show, a pie-baking contest, a used-pie sale, bingo, beer tent, BBQ of course: we’ve got a lot going on.”
O’Neal added that this year they will be hosting their 2nd Tailgate BBQ Competition, an event which sold out last year. Last year the event drew between 750 – 1000 people. She said that this year the goal is to bring around 1500 people.
