(AP) — The last of nine defendants charged in the shooting death of a Topeka woman and the wounding of her partner has pleaded guilty.

Twenty-four-year-old Michael Wilkins entered the plea Thursday to a firearms charge in a plea agreement that wrapped up prosecutions in the June 2011 death of 40-year-old Natalie Gibson and the wounding of Lori Allison.

Prosecutors said the women were shot in 2011 when they returned home as the suspects were planning to break into their house.

The  nine defendants, the shooter was sentenced to life in prison, two were convicted of reckless second-degree murder and one was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The others were convicted of various crimes, such as aggravated burglary.
