Update      The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the driver killed in Tuesday’s accident on I-135 near Newton.  Alex S. Valentine, age 21 of Valley Center was killed when the SUV he was driving hit a bridge pillar and caught fire. It is not known if he was wearing a seat belt.

 

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred on I-135 near Newton on Tuesday.

One man was killed when his SUV hit a bridge pillar and caught fire.

Due to the extreme fire, the vehicle and the victim have not been identified.
