6:15 p.m. update    On arrival at Tuesday afternoon’s fire,  crews found and quickly extinguished a blaze burning in a storage shed in the rear of the property in the 200 Block of West 17th Street. According to Hays Fire Department, the most probable cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking materials.

 

5:20 p.m.  The fire is under control.  No word is available on what caused the fire or the extent of damage.

Hays Fire Department is on the scene of a structure fire in the 200 Block of  West 17th. Smoke was reported from a storage building.
