Hays has a pumpkin patch. Pa’s Pumpkin Patch opened Friday evening. Pa’s is located 2.5 miles south of Hays on Highway 183 on mile marker 150. The pumpkin patch is open Fridays 5pm – 8pm and weekends 9am – 6pm.
Maggie Moeder told Hays Post that her family decided to open the pumpkin patch on a whim. She says her dad (or Pa to Maggie’s son) came up with the idea and the family rallied behind it. This year, Pa’s will have pumpkins, gourds, a carving / painting station, and alpacas. There is also an arrangement of decorations, including a giant pumpkin, where families can take pictures at no cost.
Moeder said they had quite a few visitors this weekend and everyone seemed to enjoy their visit to Pa’s.
“A lot of people asked if we’ve always been here. A lot of people said it was good. We’re hoping it gets busier as it gets closer to Halloween. Word of mouth is happening a lot.”
She added that the family is already making plans to expand for next year to add new activities including a corn maze.
There is no admission for entry into the patch. Pumpkin prices vary by size.
