One dead and 3 injured in unusual Friday night accident

One person was killed and three taken to the hospital in Lyons after a two vehicle accident in Rice County Friday night.fatal-accident

Killed was 32-year-old Boe E. Keesling of Lyons. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, his vehicle was apparently disabled in the roadway after striking a deer. Keesling stepped out of his vehicle when he and his vehicle were struck by a 2011 Chevy 4-door vehicle driven by 33-year-old Larry Collier of Hutchinson. Collier was eastbound when the accident occurred.

Three of the passengers in Collier’s vehicle Gail F. Monroe age 33 of Hutchinson, MaKenna Renlet age 9 of Hutchinson and Heather A. Collier age 2 of Hutchinson suffered possible injuries and were taken to the hospital in Lyons. Collier and the passenger in Keesling’s vehicle  Erica L. Keesling age 32 of Lyons, were not injured.

The accident occurring at around 7:50 p-m, at 24th Road & Avenue Q, about 11-miles southeast of Lyons.
