The Fort Hays State women’s cross country team finished fourth at the FHSU Tiger Open on Saturday (Oct. 12) at the Sand Plum Nature Trail just outside Victoria, Kan. The Tigers scored 116 points as a team. Adams State won the race with 56 points, trailed closely by Pittsburg State with 59. Nebraska-Kearney was third with 72.
Ramsey McCarter led the way for FHSU with a time of 18:29 to finish 15th. She was about 45 seconds off the winning pace of 17:45 set by Regan Mullen of Colorado Christian on the 5K course.
Kylie Gaughan finished 17th overall in a time of 18:36, seven seconds behind McCarter. Marie Schaller finished in 23rd in a time of 18:46. Micki Krzesinski and Carman Hill rounded out the scorers for FHSU in 30th and 31st. Krzesinski finished in 18:56, while Hill finished in 19:00.
The MIAA had four of the top five teams in the race. Northwest Missouri State was also among the group with a fifth-place team finish in a race with 168 runners. The MIAA Championships are in two weeks in Pittsburg, Kan., hosted by Pittsburg State.
