A Wichita man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in the stray-bullet killing of an 8-year-old girl as she slept in a mobile home.

25-year-old Zachary Gaston was to be tried next week on a charge of felony first-degree murder for the death of Kimbra Moore in September 2012.
Instead, Gaston pleaded guilty during a recent, unscheduled hearing to reckless second-degree murder and weapons-related charges. Sentencing is set for Nov. 21.
Police have said the gunfire followed a dispute in a nearby parking lot between a group of four men and a man in a stolen car. Gaston was accused of shooting at the car while chasing it into the mobile home park.
A bullet pierced the wall of Kimbra’s mobile home, killing her instantly.
