(AP) — A Reno County judge is expected to hear arguments on the request by a 14-year-old Hutchinson boy to bar public access to court proceedings on the arson

deaths of his mother and younger sister.
Judge Patricia Macke Dick scheduled a hearing Tuesday in Hutchinson on a defense motion seeking a protective order to close all hearings, seal the court record and impose a gag order.
The teen is charged with first-degree murder of his mother and 11-year-old sister and the attempted murder of his father. He’s also charged with aggravated arson in the Sept. 26 fire at the family’s Hutchinson home.
The 14-year-old’s lawyer says putting the boy on “public display” could cause embarrassment, fright and psychological damage.
The state is seeking to prosecute the teen as an adult.
