Update – Man injured during I-70 police crash

KHP

Update:  Despite an earlier report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Monday’s accident was not the result of a police pursuit.  KHP updated their public crash logs to reflect the following:

Winder entered the median, at which point he overcorrected and the vehicle turned over.

Original Story

8 p.m. Monday   A Great Bend man was injured in a Monday afternoon I-70 crash.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol fifty-six year old Allen Richmond Winder of Great Bend was driving a 1998 Olds 98 eastbound on I-70 and being chased by law enforcement at milepost 120, seven miles west of WaKeeney.

The vehicle went into the median, the driver overcorrected, and the vehicle slipped over on its top, facing westbound.  Winder was transported to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.  He was wearing a seat belt.
