Impact of Kansas tax changes discussed

(AP) — Changes in Kansas tax policies and their implications for schools, communities and the state are the topic of a daylong conference at the University of TaxKansas.

Kansas has cut individual income tax rates and eliminated taxes for nearly 200,000 businesses during the past two years. Republican Gov. Sam Brownback pushed for the changes, contending they would contribute to economic growth.

Speakers and participants at Thursday’s Kansas Economic Policy Conference were scheduled to examine the implications of the tax cuts for public services and jobs.

The event is sponsored by the Institute for Social and Policy Research.
