The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an Emergency Order of Suspension to a day care home at 901 Stone in Great Bend. The daycare is licensed under the name Rhonda’s Day Care Home.
KDHE listed the following as the reason for the Emergency Order of Suspension:
“On or about August 19, 2013, an eight month old infant was transported to the emergency room after the infant was observed to be lethargic while in the Licensee’s day care home. The infant was hospitalized due to injuries, which included a non-accidental brain injury. The opinion of medical doctors is that the infant’s brain injury occurred on August 19, 2013, while in Licensee’s care.”
State law allows the Secretary of KDHE to issue such an order when, in the opinion of the Secretary, the order is necessary to protect children in the home from any potential threat to health or safety. The order is subject to appeal. Compliance history on this day care facility can be found by searching the Child Care and Early Education Portal for license No. 0066262 at http://www.kdheks.gov/bcclr.
