An early Friday morning building fire at Pam’s Bakery, 205 East 7th was primarily smoldering pellets from a Traeger Grill.
Just after midnight, Hays Fire Department crews, the police and EMS responded to report of a fire. Upon arrival fire crews entered the building and found light haze of smoke coming from the kitchen of the bakery.
The pellets were cleaned out and a thorough investigation of the kitchen was done to check for any signs of fire beyond the grill. None was found. An all-clear was given at 12:39 a.m.
Twenty one minutes later, the City of Hays Fire Department and Police Department were dispatched to gas leak at 2900 Willow.
The leak was freon from an air conditioning units that were stuck by a vehicle which also struck the residence. The house had damage to the Delta side of the structure.
The fire crews cleaned up the affected area of the house, boarded up the window inside of the structure to secure the property and protect it from the elements. The fire crew also shored up the brick on the outside of the house. All fire units were assignment complete at 02:04.
