Tigers Roll Past Newman

http://www.horizonappliance.com/The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers had six players score in double figures Tuesday night on their way to a 114-86 win over the Newman Jets.

Fort Hays led by five at 16-11 just over five minutes into the game when they went on a 14-0 run and led by 19, 30-11. Taylor Chandler scored eight of her 12 points during that run, including back-to-back three pointers.

The Tigers continued to build and their lead in the first half and led by 32 late in the first half and grabbed a 63-33 lead at the half. FHSU shot 76.5% in the first half and shot 58.8% for the game.

Katelyn Edwards and Tera Ingalsbe led the team with 18 points apiece, followed by Kate Lehman and Beth Bohuslavsky both finished with 17.  Chelsea Mason chipped in 14 and Taylor Chandler finished with 12. Lehman also pulled down 14 rebounds and had six blocks for the Tigers.

The 200 combined points set a new school record for single-game scoring by both opponents, breaking the previous combined record of 195 set in 1986.  FHSU’s 114 points was just two shy of the individual game record of 116, set in 2006.

Fort Hays is now 4-0 on the season and they will host Tabor College on Saturday afternoon.
