Megan Colson, Executive Director for the DHDC, told Hays Post that all are welcome to come out Friday evening and partake in the festivities. Colson added that it’s a good opportunity for the community to come together.
“The goal of Bright Friday is to bring people out and shop locally and also, lighting up downtown for Christmas and continuing on with our FrostFest season. Also, we are honoring small business Saturday in downtown Hays. Small business Saturday is nationally known and we’re adopting that initiative for Hays, especially downtown.”
As part of Small Business Saturday, shoppers can purchase a $5 cookie box from one of the participating merchants. As shoppers visit various stores in Downtown Hays, merchants will fill the box with Christmas cookies for families to enjoy this holiday season. All proceeds will go towards the Hays Area Children’s Center.
Colson added that there are other events next week to give people an opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the holiday season locally. Anyone with questions about this or other event can contact the DHDC at 785-621-4171.
