Lawrence “Baby Ray” Reynolds, Jr., 72, Hays, died Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home in Hays.
He was born May 29, 1941 in Manhattan, Kansas the son of Lawrence and Harriet (White) Reynolds, Sr. and Ernestine Moore. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of FHSU with a degree in fine arts. He was an upholsterer, an artist, and worked as a janitor at FHSU for 25 years. He was a member of the Westview Church in Hays, had his artwork displayed at the Grassroots Center in Lucas, Kansas, was a Salvation Army Officer, was a pastor in various nursing homes, and loved art, racquetball, movies, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence “Larry” Reynolds of Agoura Hills, CA, and Gerald Reynolds, four daughters, Renea Griffin of Marietta, GA, Jessica McGuire and husband Jeremy, Veronica Johnson and husband Stuart, and Vanessa Dinkel and husband Shon, all of Hays, brothers, James Moore of Wichita, KS, Alfonso Reynolds of St. Louis, MO, and a sister Shirlese Hamer of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren, Brandon Reynolds, LaQuinda Reynolds, Anthony Griffin, Brian Reynolds, Cameron Griffin, Tiffany Reynolds, Jacob Griffin, Matthew Reynolds, John Reynolds, Hannah McGuire, Gabriel McGuire, Eliana McGuire, Abigail Johnson, Katelyn Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Lily Johnson, Aaliyah Reynolds, Davian Swanson, Rylan Dinkel, Tayvin Dinkel, Keaton Dinkel, Camden Dinkel, and two great grandchildren, Chloe Griffin and Jericho Griffin and special friends Harold and JoAnne Crispin.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Sloan, DeMille Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Bennie Jackson, and Marjorie Smith and a grandchild Asher McGuire.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the WestView Church, 3000 W. 41st Street, Hays. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time on Fridayat the church. Memorials are suggested to the church in memory of Lawrence.
